Summer Essentials – Natural & Organic

Summer isn’t over yet, even if the weather in Berlin seems to believe otherwise.  I’m hopeful that September will be a bit warmer so that we can enjoy the last vestiges of summer with some evenings out on the terrasses, weekends at the lake and long walks. Today, I wanted to share with you my essentials from this summer – all the products that I’ve been using all summer long and am still using now.

  • Prtty Peaushun – Skin Tight Body Lotion
I have this lotion in different shades, medium and pure. I use the pure every day since it works incredibly well to hydrate the skin. It’s smooth, plumping, and has a nice scent as well. I use the medium when going out at night, since it brings a touch of lightness to the skin. The reflective sparkles are really very light, they just help bring out a bit of luminosity.
This lotion is supposedly used by celebrities to hide their imperfections – notably cellulite. I’m not particularly convinced that it would really work to that level, but it does make my skin look nice – I’m so fond of its hydrating qualities that whenever I need a body cream I always find myself turning to this one. It penetrates very easily and doesn’t leave any sticky residue – a definite plus when you need to get dressed just afterwards.

  • Eco by Sonya – Winter Skin and Invisible Tan
These are two products which I love and which I’ve been using for several years. In general, I use Invisible Tan on my legs after having exfoliated the night before. I use the Winter Skin all year round (or just about), on the rest of the body, for a progressive and natural tan. For both, it’s always recommended to exfoliate the previous night before application and to moisturise the skin in order to ensure a lasting effect.
Personally, I have found that this is a natural and effective way of tanning for those of us not lucky enough to live or holiday at the beach. Natural tanning effect guaranteed 🙂

  • The Organic Pharmacy – Cellular Protection Sun Cream
During the summer, one of the most important things you can do for your health is protect your skin from the sun. My decision to use natural and organic solar protection products is tied to two larger principles: The first is to avoid exposing my skin to irritating substances, especially possible toxins or carcinogens, and the second is for environmental reasons. Chemical sunscreens are often irritating and allergenic, but most importantly, some of them are known endocrine disruptors, with silicones and mineral oils that choke the skin and clog pores, irritating and potentially harmful synthetic fragrances, dubious preservatives, etc.
Therefore, I’ve turned to this sun cream, which has followed me around all summer long. From the first time I tried it I was sold by its fruity scent and its hydrating quality. It’s very comfortable to put on every day and doesn’t leave any white traces on the skin. It’s a little pricey but I think this is one of the best organic sun creams available today. It’s my favourite choice along with the sun protection options offered by John Masters Organics.

  • ILIA Beauty Radiant Translucent Powder SPF 20 | Moondance
I love this product – it has SPF 20 and absorbs any light sweat or glow that might appear in the summer (often happens to me because I’m running to get somewhere and I’m late). ILIA Radiant Translucent Powder is an organic blend of powders including Aloe Vera with light essential oils of Rosemary and Thyme. Hibiscus Flower extract acts as an anti-oxidant to the skin while non-nano zinc oxide provides SPF 20 protection. The packaging is super practical – it comes with its own brush for any retouching you might need at any moment during the day – a summer essential!
