Acai Bowl

The truth is, I’ve never really tasted acai outside my own house. Unfortunately, I’m not one of those people you see singing the praises of the acai bowls they tasted in hawai’i. One day, maybe I’ll have the chance, but I don’t think it’ll be happening any time soon.

After seeing thousands of articles about acai berries, their virtues and benefits, I really wanted to try them out, even if they do cost their weight in gold. I looked on iHerb, and was lucky enough to find a decent bargain, so I took my chance. Now that I mention it, I have to admit that one of the things I’ve really missed since moving to Berlin has been iHerb – thanks German customs!

Anyway, so all of that just to say that all my acai experiences come straight from my very own kitchen. I’m the queen of acai bowls! As a post-workout snack they can’t be topped. I’ve been a converted follower ever since the smoothie bowl craze hit social medias. It all comes down to using the right toppings, otherwise you may as well just be drinking a normal smoothie.
My recipe is super simple – I just added some cacao powder. Double the superfoods, double the fun!

Acai Bowl

Easy Breakfast Acai Bowl

Servings: 1 serving
Prep time: 5 min

Ingredients

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 cup frozen berries 100 grams
  • 1 tsp acai powder
  • 1 tbsp cacao powder
  • 1/4 cup coconut water 150 ml

Instructions

  1. Place ingredients in a high-speed blender and pulse until you've reached a soft and creamy consistency. Use a bit more coconut water if needed or try help the frozen fruits to break down with a stick -you want a nice-cream finish!

  2. Serve in a bowl and top with some Nut and Coconut Granola, more shredded coconut, bee pollen, chia seed and fruits of choice.

  3. Eat immediately!
