It took me a little while to get into green juices. At first, I always found them a bit weird – I mean, who wants vegetables in their juice? Do I really want to be tasting spinach or arugula in a juice? Well, now I do! Just as with everything, the body has a way of adapting and tastes can change. When it’s for something healthy, that’s definitely a good thing!
What I like about smoothies, be they green or another colour, is that they are the only drink able to provide you with the 5 fruits and vegetables minimum you’re supposed to be eating every day. Apart from that, I have to admit that they’re lovely in the summertime, as a breakfast or a snack. They’re fresh and refreshing and perfect!
I got into the habit of having a smoothie as a post-workout snack after doing cardio or an especially intense session (ok, sometimes I went for peanut butter on toast!) so I wanted to share one version of what I’ve been trying. It’s full of protein thanks to the spinach and hemp seeds, which makes it a great snack for just before or after working out.
For the liquid I often use coconut water, especially if I’m making it right before working out. It’s rich in minerals and will keep you well hydrated, preventing muscle cramps during your physical exertions.
Ready for your workout? Grab this smoothie and you’re good to go!
